Eligibility

Anybody from any background can participate in Hack the Change. For access to in person perks such as food, games, and in-person mentorship, participants must be in person at the University of Calgary. 

Project and Submission Requirements

Please submit your project source code along with a maximum 5 minute video presenting the product.

Prizes

1st place - $2500 in cash and $2500 in donation dollars

2nd place - $1500 in cash and $1500 in donation dollars

3rd place - $1000 in cash and $1000 in donation dollars

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

• Judging Criteria - Idea
  Does the product address the prompt? Does the product introduce a new/unique approach or perspective?
• Judging Criteria - Effectiveness
  Does the product function as intended? Does the product execute on its idea in a way that’s effective?
• Judging Criteria - Technical Challenge
  Does the product function as intended? Does the product execute on its idea in a way that’s effective?
• Judging Criteria - Presentation/Marketability
  Is the implementation complex? Does the product feature different parts? Does the product use interesting concepts or technologies? 
• Judging Criteria - Design
  Does the team seem organized in their presentation/demo? Does the presentation engage the judges and have real-world marketability?
